Remaining schedule ensures Atlanta Falcons a high draft pick

The Atlanta Falcons could very easily finish the season without winning another game.

To say the remaining schedule for the Atlanta Falcons will be difficult is an understatement. Home games against the New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Las Vegas Raiders, along with road games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Kansas City Chiefs means the Atlanta Falcons could very easily finish the season at 3-13.

This is an absolutely brutal schedule of games to end the season on, that could be made all the more difficult in part to the consistently mind-boggling play calling of Dirk Koetter, and an offensive line coming off an egregious showing last Sunday against the Saints.

Looking at this schedule realistically, the only winnable game on paper is the Chargers game.

The Chargers, much like the Atlanta Falcons, have double finished off opponents, which is why they sit at 3-7. This game very well could end in a tie now that I think about, considering neither team can consistently finish off a game with a lead.

Outside of the matchup with the Chargers, the Atlanta Falcons could be looking at several blow out losses. Sunday’s matchup with the surprising Raiders is probably the most winnable game aside from the Chargers game, but the Raiders have played well this year and Derek Carr is having arguably his best season yet.

It’s hard to tell which Falcons team will show up, which means the upcoming game against the Raiders is up in the air.

The Atlanta Falcons play the Saints again in two weeks, this time in Atlanta.

This will undoubtedly be another loss for the Falcons. The team was not able to get anything going at all against this team last Sunday and was pretty much embarrassed in every facet of the game.

Letting a tight end throw for 233 yards and run for two touchdowns on your defense is inexcusable. There is no way the Falcons win in two weeks if they play like they did last Sunday.

It is also a safe bet that the Atlanta Falcons will not beat the Kansas City Chiefs. They don’t stand a chance in hell and could very easily lose by at least 30-40 points.

The two matchups with the Buccaneers will not go well for the Falcons either. Brady has never lost to the Atlanta Falcons, and he won’t this season either. Unfortunately for the Falcons, they will play Tampa twice during the day, not on primetime, which is when the Buccaneers are at their best. The only way the Atlanta Falcons can beat the Buccaneers is if Tamp Bay rests its starters in week 17.

With all of that being said, the Atlanta Falcons are all but guaranteed a top 10 pick, maybe even top five. There will be no 7-9 season this year, which means the Atlanta Falcons can finally get a high draft pick to begin the rebuild process that this organization so desperately needs.
