The Atlanta Falcons lost another heartbreaker Sunday afternoon.

At this point, Atlanta Falcons fans should be happy with the outcome Sunday in Kansas City. They played one of their best games defensively all season and still came away with a loss which helps them stay in the hunt for a Top 5 2021 NFL draft pick.

Instead of chastising and attacking Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo, fans should be thanking him. No one likes losing but for the Atlanta Falcons, they need better draft picks if they are going to turn this thing around in the near future and they got a step closer to that today.

If we being honest, that missed kicked didn’t cost the Atlanta Falcons a loss, it simply cost them an opportunity to go into overtime against the best team in the NFL – no one knows what would have happened at that point.

Koo has been the best kicker in the NFL in 2020 and has been the most reliable and consistent player the Atlanta Falcons have had all season, today’s miss with 10 seconds doesn’t change any of that.

Younghoe Koo has been the Atlanta Falcons best weapon

For more than a decade former Atlanta Falcons kicker Matt Bryant was automatic and one of the two best kickers in the game, but even he missed a few field goals as well. More importantly, when it was clear that Bryant had lost his ability to kick, there was a huge hole in the Falcons offense and Koo has been incredible filling that gap.

While moral victories are for kids, this team has no reason to hang its head today. They went toe to toe with the 2020 MVP and gave the defending Super Bowl champions all they could handle.

Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is going to be the favorite to land the Atlanta Falcons head coaching job, so hopefully, he likes what he saw across the field today and realized that this team is more talented and closer to winning than teams like the Chargers, Texans, Jacksonville or any other team that will be looking for a head coaching in two weeks.

Instead of being mad at the missed field goal, be thankful for the missed field goal as that play could end up being the difference between pick number three and pick number 15 come next May.

Next. Falcons need to draft Alabama’s Najee Harris. dark
