The Atlanta Falcons are reportedly interested in Joe Brady for their head coaching opening

The Atlanta Falcons are looking far and wide for their next head coach, but the latest name they’ve shown interest in isn’t too far outside of their backyard.

According to reports from the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Falcons are one of three teams to put in interview requests for Panther Offensive Coordinator Joe Brady. Along with Atlanta, the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers have also filed interview requests.

Brady is a bright offensive mind, but his experience is minimal. He was an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints in 2017 and 2018 before taking over as the Passing Game Coordinator at LSU for one season. Of course, the Tigers had a historic passing season that year- ending with a National Title- and that’s how he was offered the coordinator position with the Panthers.

The Panthers finished No. 21 in the league in total offense this year, but they were without one of their stars in Christian McCaffrey for much of the season.

The Atlanta Falcons have also interviewed a few other potential candidates for the vacant job

In addition to the interview request for Brady, the Atlanta Falcons have also conducted interviews with three other potential candidates.

Interim coach Raheem Morris completed an interview on Friday and the Falcons have since virtually interviewed two prime targets in Robert Saleh (49ers defensive coordinator) and Eric Bieniemy (Chiefs offensive coordinator).

It’s been rumored that the Falcons have their sights set on Bieniemy– an offensive stud- and it will be interesting to see how they stack up against their competition in the race to hire him.

Urban Meyer has been rumored to come out of retirement and coach at the NFL level, but the Falcons have shown minimal interest in the former Ohio State coach to this point.
