And then there’s the most likely candidate.

It was reported earlier that the Falcons may very well be down to Holmes and Fontenot as their final two options and, if the Lions are close to striking a deal with Holmes, the decision may very well be made for Atlanta.

Fontenot has served as the director of pro scouting for the last six years with the New Orleans Saints and he has been with the franchise for 16 years total.

He has done an excellent job and is one of the reasons why the Saints have been so consistently successful over the last decade.

Fontenot may not be the name that many Atlanta Falcons fans want to hear- simply because of his background with the Saints- but if you want a proven winner who knows what competitive culture is all about, it doesn’t seem likely you could go wrong with Fontenot.
