Former Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White has major beef with Mel Kiper

Former Atlanta Falcons great Roddy White has never been one to sit idly by when he sees a problem or something that he disagrees with.

That couldn’t be truer when you look at the latest grievance he has against ESPN Draft Analyst Mel Kiper.

Kiper- who has been breaking down draft prospects for nearly 40 years- has had the propensity in the past to talk up players who don’t work out in the NFL and to disregard players (who many see as viable prospects) who turn out to be superstars.

An example of this? Kiper had Mitchell Trubisky ahead of Deshaun Watson in his draft analysis just a few years ago back in 2017.

Former Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White took notice when Kiper went on national television and talked up BYU QB Zach Wilson while pointing out potential flaws in Ohio State QB Justin Fields.

White brought up the Trubisky incident and even compared Wilson to him.

It’s clear the former Atlanta Falcons star isn’t sold on Zach Wilson. Is that something fans should take note on?

We all know that Kiper has flaws in his analysis. We all know that every year he inflates certain players who don’t work out and he disregards players that do. That comes as no surprise.

The interesting portion of this whole debate, though, is if the Atlanta Falcons should heed the warning being placed out there by White.

There are a ton of analysts who believe the Falcons are going to take a quarterback with that No. 4 overall pick. As a matter of fact, if you look at the majority of mock drafts coming out currently, you’ll see a quarterback being projected to Atlanta in nearly every one of them.

If White’s analysis is correct, the Falcons would be absolutely wasting a pick if they took Wilson. If Kiper is correct, though, you could be talking about the next franchise quarterback.

Should the Atlanta Falcons take note of White’s warning and draft Justin Fields- who he is clearly high on? Or should the Falcons stay away from quarterbacks altogether as we might suggest?

8 first-rounders the Falcons already have their eyes on. dark. Next

Only time will tell, but it’s certainly fun to see White going after Kiper and continuing to use his platform to share his voice following his professional football career.
