In 2021, Atlanta Falcons wins and losses won’t matter.

After three straight losing Atlanta Falcons seasons, a lot of change has taken plan within the franchise. New front office, new coaching staff, new content creators, they have run nearly everyone out of the building that had anything to do with Thomas Dimitroff and Dan Quinn.

While that is great for long term success, that may not be the case for short term success.

By no means are we saying that the Atlanta Falcons will have a losing season, fail to make the playoffs, or resemble anything that they have since the Super Bowl loss four years ago.

There has been a lot of excitement around the hiring of new general manager Terry Fontenot and head coach Arthur Smith. Both have had a certain level of success in the NFL and both won their introductory press conferences.

If you don’t think that is important when it comes to fans, look at the Lions and Eagles fans after their new coaches bombed their introductory press conferences.

Smith has also put together a very good coaching staff that has a great mix of long time NFL assistants and young youthful coaches ready to give everything that it takes to make the Atlanta Falcons a winner. So far he has checked off every important box there is for a new head coach.

Despite the optimism, there is a reason to be cautious for 2021.

Franchises don’t clean house because everything is great, they clean house because it is a dumpster fire, and drastic changes needed to be made.

While there is lots of talent here, Grady Jarrett, AJ Terrell, Deion Jones, Calvin Ridley, Julio Jones, Matt Ryan, Hayden Hurst, Chris Lindstrom, and Foye Oluokun there are still lots of issues with personnel that needs to be addressed and given the cap situation, it could take more than one offseason to address.

While it is hard to see the Atlanta Falcons being as bad as they were in 2020, but if they go 2-8 in one-score games like they did this season, we could easily see a repeat despite all the positive changes that have taken place in Flowery Branch.
