Three reasons Arthur Smith can bring a Super Bowl to the Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons have a new head coach and he’s coming into a franchise that is absolutely starved of winning in the worst way.

Though the Atlanta Falcons have one of the most passionate fan bases, the franchise seems to remain in this constant state of purgatory.

In 55 years as a franchise, the Falcons have participated in a total of 24 playoff games with two Super Bowl appearances, never raising the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Could that change under Arthur Smith’s direction? Here are three reasons Smith can bring a Super Bowl to Atlanta during his tenure.

3. He’s got an experienced defensive staff in place

The biggest question to Smith’s success in Atlanta was always going to predicated on who he brought in to coach the defense and there’s no doubt that there is experience with this defensive staff.

Dean Pees is by no means a ‘sure-fire’ hire. He has been known to give up leads late, especially over the past few years. That being said, he has won two Super Bowls and has been a part of some of the best defenses in the last decade with the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots.

It’s not just Pees that makes up the defensive staff, though. The Falcons have brought in Jon Hoke as the DBs Coach and Ted Monachino as the OLB Coach. You’ve got Gary Emanuel as the DL Coach and Frank Bush as the LBs Coach.

The overarching point? It’s a staff with plenty of experience. They’ve been a part of winning organizations and they have the ability to come in and make an impact on this unit that deeply needs it.
