Atlanta Falcons could be winners in the free agency buyer’s market.

Last season, the Atlanta Falcons rolled the dice and brought in running back Todd Gurley on a one-year “prove it deal” and all he proved was that it is time for him to retire.

Yes, there is a contingent of fans out there that want him back and blame the offensive line for his lack of production, which is comical given the offensive line isn’t going to change much.

That said, just because one prove-it deal from an NFL veteran did not work out, does not mean that new Atlanta Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot should be wary of attempting to do the same thing.

Recently, CBS Sports NFL cap expert Joel Cory had this to say about NFL free agency in 2021 –

"“You’re going to see some guys who take one-year deals trying to have a good year or repeat what they did in 2020 if they have to, come back and be a free agent in 2022 when the cap presumably will be higher because there will also be new TV deals done by then and the cap will start growing again.”"

This could help the Atlanta Falcons in the immediate future fill needs on the roster will highly talented guys wanting to prove that they are not a flash in the pan or past their prime.

Cory went on to say that some guys are going to get their egos hurt this offseason because of the smaller cap.

"“You’re going to see some guys who take one-year deals trying to have a good year or repeat what they did in 2020 if they have to, come back and be a free agent in 2022 when the cap presumably will be higher because there will also be new TV deals done by then and the cap will start growing again.”"

Here are three players in 2021 that the Atlanta Falcons should take a one-year flyer on.
