Projecting the pre-draft 2021 Atlanta Falcons two-deep depth chart.

The Atlanta Falcons have been silent in free agency for the most part and projecting the current depth chart will give fans an opportunity to look at the glaring holes the Falcons have come late April.

Quarterback

  • 1- Matt Ryan
  • 2- TBD

Matt Ryan has thrown for 4,000+ yards in each of the past eleven seasons and following the restructuring of his contract, the Atlanta Falcons are fully committed to the Boston College product and will spend a majority of the draft to continue to build around him.

Matt Shaub elected to retire at season’s end leaving a vacancy at QB2 as Kurt Benkert was released last month leaving Ryan as the only passer on the roster. Do not rule out the Atlanta Falcons using a day three selection on a quarterback but bringing in a veteran in the fall to backup Ryan seems most likely.

Position Grade: A

Running back

  • 1- Mike Davis
  • 2- Ito Smith
  • 3- Qadree Ollison

The Atlanta Falcons recently added Mike Davis which provides Arthur Smith with a power back that also has a bit of versatility. Christian McCaffery was out for the majority of the 2020 season leaving RB1 duties up to Davis who was impressive for the most part.

Davis recorded  642-yards rushing with six touchdowns while catching 59 passes for 373 yards and another 2 scores. Davis is a solid fit while Ito Smith averaged over 4 yards per catch on 63 carries will assume the backup duties as Atlanta has elected to let Brian Hill walk.

Position Grade: C+
