Atlanta Falcons: Three best RB’s to pair with Mike Davis
By Joe Beasley
Kenny Gainwell
Kenny Gainwell is a name a lot of people might not be familiar with. For one, he played his football at Memphis, and two, he decided to opt out this season.
Gainwell is on the smaller side but he is one of the more dynamic playmakers in this draft at the running back position. He’s a great pass catcher out the backfield and possesses the top-end speed teams would love to have at the running back position. His biggest concern could be his lack of size.
On his pro day, he weighed in at 201 pounds.
His production on the field can’t be ignored no matter how big or small he might be. In 2019 on 282 touches (232 rushing, 51 receptions), Gainwell was about to accumulate 2,069 total yards (1,459 rushing, 610 receiving).
In a two-back system for the Atlanta Falcons, Gainwell would be the perfect chance of pace running back and the Falcons wouldn’t lose any pass-catching ability out the backfield.
The question is where could the Falcons realistically draft Gainwell. Some drafts have him going as early as the second but also as late as the fourth. Depending on how aggressive teams might be for running backs, if he’s available on the third round, Gainwell would be a great pickup for the Falcons.
