Javian Hawkins

If the Falcons are looking for an explosive player for a cheap price (aka late-round draft pick), look no further than Louisville running back Javian Hawkins. Anytime you break Lamar Jackson’s rushing records then that’s saying something.

The biggest knock against Hawkins would be his size. He’s listed at 5’9” and 182 pounds. He doesn’t have the build to be an every-down back and that’s fine because the Falcons won’t need him for that.

Due to his small stature, he doesn’t break many tackles but at the same time, there were very few defenders that could even handle Hawkins in open space. Hawkins can also line up in the slot as a receiver which would allow the Falcons to have Davis and Hawkins on the field at the same time.

He did make strides as a pass-catcher in 2020 but he could stand to get better in that department. Due to his size, he isn’t the best pass blocker as well. Drafting Hawkins means the Falcons would have to play to his strengths while he improves in certain areas.

If he’s available in the later rounds, the Atlanta Falcons should take a chance on this home run threat.
