The Atlanta Falcons need to put the Saints in their place
By Ross Terrell
If the Atlanta Falcons don’t do anything else this year, they must shut the New Orleans Saints up. Cameron Jordan loves to run his mouth and so far, the Atlanta Falcons have done nothing to quiet him.
After a Thanksgiving win three years ago, he tweeted that he didn’t know he loved “roasted falcon.” Then after the Atlanta Falcons drafted Chris Lindstrom, Jordan tweeted “fresh meat.”
Bring it up to this year’s draft after the Falcons drafted Kyle Pitts, where the Saints defensive end said if Pitts is lined up on the line, he’ll have to “detach him from his body.”
Well, Kyle, welcome the Saints/Falcons rivalry.
The Atlanta Falcons beating the Saints is the only way to shut Cameron up.
By all means, Jordan owns Matt Ryan.
He has sacked Ryan more than any other quarterback. It’s bad enough the Atlanta Falcons can’t beat the Saints, but to let one player harass and dominate your franchise quarterback is embarrassing.
The Falcons could go 2-15 this year and if those two wins were against the Saints, it might not be as bad. The same could be said for the inverse. No matter what Atlanta does, the fans want a win versus New Orleans. They have dominated the series too often recently.
A win may not be as fulfilling since Drew Brees isn’t there, but even last year, the Falcons could be the Saints led by Taysom Hill. That’s unacceptable. The Saints love to consistently remind Atlanta about their Super Bowl collapse, they also like to point to the oddly similar name of our stadiums.
Oh, and the Falcons hired a former Saints personnel guy as general manager. It’s time for Atlanta to distance itself from New Orleans and make Cameron Jordan eat his words. Right now, they have given fans no fodder to fight back with. And sadly, the effort on the field has been even worse.
So, Kyle Pitts, you’re up.
Atlanta fans remember being dominated by Jimmy Graham. We also remember when Alge Crumpler used to do it to the Saints. So it looks like the tables have turned, it’s time for the Falcons to make Jordan eat his words and put the Saints in their place.
