The Atlanta Falcons are looking to make a major rebound following a 2020 season that didn’t go as anyone would’ve wanted.

The Falcons finished with just a 4-12 record and the hope among the fan base is that a new GM in Terry Fontenot and a new head coach in Arthur Smith is that we’ll see an obvious improvement during the 2021 season.

So far, the Falcons have made some moves- under a bad cap situation- in free-agency and they spent their No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft on prolific tight end Kyle Pitts.

We’ll continue to talk about the Falcons’ upcoming season and what fans can expect, but this post is going to be discussing much more polarizing than that: Uniforms.

The Atlanta Falcons need this sweet throwback design, potentially as a color rush option

247 Sports’ Ted Hyman posted a throwback design for the Atlanta Falcons and the result was pretty sweet.

The uniform concept features a black jersey similar those of olden days and harkens back to the early days of the franchise when they boasted red helmets with the black Falcon emblem on the side.

There’s just something about the red helmet, in my opinion, that would be fun to see in Atlanta.

Now, of course, there’s not much of a chance of this happening. The Falcons aren’t going to get away from their traditional black helmet that has been with the franchise for decades now and the NFL currently has a rule in place where a franchise can only have one helmet.

The Falcons have hinted in the past that if the NFL ever dropped the rule that they would heavily consider adding the red helmet as part of the color rush concept.

I personally love throwbacks and would love to see the Falcons use a design like this at some point. It’s not likely to happen, but it’s a fun topic to think about here in the midst of the offseason.
