Dedicated offensive mind for the Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons have not had a true offensive head coach in decades. Yes, Bobby Petrino was supposed to be, but we all know how that worked out. The hiring of Arthur Smith is exactly what the Falcons needed – a young offensive mind with a track record of success and is willing to not meddle on the defensive side of the ball.

Of course, he will still be involved, but he is going to let his defensive staff do what he hired them to do.

The Atlanta Falcons have plenty of reason to be excited with their personnel moves. Yes, they traded away one of the best players in franchise history but they still added some great pieces during the free-agent period as well as the NFL draft.

Mike Davis came home after helping to carry the Panthers offense in 2020 when McCaffrey was out injured for most of the season. His leadership and talent will give the Atlanta Falcons their most complete running back in a decade.

Matt Ryan will have plenty to throw to and the passing game will not see a decline despite losing Julio.

Kyle Pitts, Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage, Christian Blake, Olimade Zaccheaus, Frank Darby, Mike Davis, Hayden Hurst, and Jaeden Graham all provide Ryan with plenty of targets to move the ball up and down the field in 2021.

The change in philosophy will be exactly what the Atlanta Falcons need to end their three-year playoff drought in 2021 and be the story of the year around the NFL.

Next. The 2017 pick we wish would have worked out better. dark
