Atlanta Falcons preseason goals: Find the correct defensive line rotation to cover up the holes

This is a big task for the Atlanta Falcons and one that they have had to focus on for the past decade or longer.

While you certainly love Dean Pees ability to generate pass rush by scheme, you cannot overlook the lack of talent and depth amongst the line. You have Grady Jarrett who you cannot say enough good things about, and you have Dante Fowler Jr. who will hopefully have a bounce-back season.

Past that you are in trouble.

Early reports have been glowing for the rookie Ade Ogundeji, so maybe he will be a pleasant surprise. Jacob Tuioti-Mariner, Marlon Davidson, and John Cominsky have all shown flashes. But it is still just slim pickings when you try to set the defense up with a pass rush rotation.

Grady will be in there for most snaps, Fowler will probably be in the same situation unless he continues his play from last year. Then it will be about getting decent production from everyone else, it will have to be a group effort.

The starting defensive line rotation in week one will probably be subjective. If someone like Steven Means is listed as a starter, it likely will be more of a split between him and others.

Finding the right situational players for the regular season will be imperative for the coaching staff to get perfect for when the Falcons play in the games that count.
