3. Atlanta Falcons convince Alex Smith to come out of retirement

Yes, it’s unlikely that Smith would come out of retirement to be a proven backup considering he has long been a starter in this league, however, Atlanta needs to explore all options and Alex Smith is at the top of the list when it comes to talented unemployed quarterbacks.

Smith is coming off of a bounceback season after a horrific leg injury threatened not only his football career but his life. Watching Smith play for Washington it was obvious he was still working his way back but still talented.

Alex Smith coming out of retirement for anything short of a starting job would be surprising but the Falcons would be remiss if they didn’t at least ask the veteran.

Much like Foles, he would be an asset not only as a player but as a leader on the sideline and in the locker room offering Matt Ryan and the coaching staff an experienced player capable of diagnosing and helping fix problems from the sideline.
