Looking at the Atlanta Falcons schedule this season one thing stands out, quarterback Matt Ryan. Ryan has a unique opportunity this season. He will only face three quarterbacks who have proven they are better or they at least are Ryan’s equal.

Atlanta faces Tom Brady (twice), Dak Prescott, and Josh Allen. Those are the only three quarterbacks who are clearly on Ryan’s level. Meaning thirteen of the seventeen weeks this season Matt Ryan is going to have a clear advantage.

The rest of Ryan’s opponents include Jalen Hurts, Daniel Jones, Jameis Winston, Sam Darnold, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Zach Wilson, Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones, Trevor Lawrence, Jared Goff, and whomever the 49ers are starting by week fifteen.

No schedule in recent memory has given the Falcons as big of an advantage at the quarterback position. Of the group listed above who are you taking over Ryan?

All are underwhelming or unproven rookies Ryan can outgun. Atlanta is often going to be outmanned when it comes to overall roster talent but when it comes to the most important position the Falcons have the advantage.

Perhaps after seasons of disappointing collapses and predictable ineptitude the Falcons were due a bit of good luck. Luck has given Matt Ryan the chance to go out and beat inferior quarterbacks consistently this season.

Though in fairness to Ryan, he will often be up against better defenses and facing teams with more depth offensively. However, if he is truly still that guy Ryan cannot be beaten by this level of competition consistently.

Players who have proven they are average or players yet to prove anything. Ryan is entering his age-36 season and is likely entering the end of his prime. A prime the Falcons hope has one final playoff run left for the face of their franchise.
