The Atlanta Falcons lost 32-6 in a complete and utter beat down against the Eagles. To call the game a dumpster fire doesn’t convey just how poorly this game went. Both sides of the ball were underwhelming and absolutely dominated in the trenches.

Jalen Hurts picked apart the Falcons defense at will getting anything he wanted through the air or on the ground. For Atlanta fans it is a very rude awakening. One which forces them to confront this new regime appears just as terrible as the old.

While one week into the season may be a bit too early to judge it would take a radical overhaul to improve this team within the season.

There is no dancing around the fact this Atlanta Falcons team is terrible on both sides of the ball

The biggest shock for Atlanta in this game was the complete lack of success to get the ball anywhere close to the end-zone. Despite having veteran quarterback Matt Ryan and dynamic receiver Calvin Ridley Atlanta never seemed to poise a threat offensively.

Losing to the Eagles perhaps would have been acceptable for rookie head coach Arthur Smith under different circumstances. Smith was facing a fellow rookie head coach and had the better quarterback in Matt Ryan and the most established weapon in Calvin Ridley.

This wasn’t simply a week one loss this team can shake off as they get ready to face Tampa Bay. It  was a sloppy poorly played game indicating this is a team that is going to be competing for a top five pick not a playoff spot this season.

If there was a lone bright spot for Atlanta fans it was the Falcons run game in the first half that easily eclipsed 100-yards rushing. Though one could also surmise the Falcons focus on the run game never allowed Matt Ryan and the passing game to find any rhythm. Regardless it was an ugly loss for a team growing accustomed to seeing their team disappoint.

Next. Falcons must win these five games. dark
