Serious question did anyone see Russell Gage on Sunday? The Atlanta Falcons receiver apparently played on Sunday though for those who watched the game or looked at the stat sheet it was impossible to tell.

One had to dig a bit deeper and find how many snaps Gage was on the field.  Even when Gage was on the field he completely disappeared and failed to find any separation. The one time Ryan did look his way Gage failed to make the catch in the last gasp effort.

Gage couldn’t get any separation on Sunday and seemed content to stay attached to corners he should be easily beating. The Eagles secondary wasn’t elite and should have been a position group Atlanta could have exposed.

Russell Gage was outplayed by Atlanta Falcons fullback Keith Smith not a great look for the starter

Gage gave Atlanta a lot of reason for optimism he could step in for Ridley this season as Ridley looks to replace Julio Jones. However, one game in there are a lot of red flags for a receiver who was outplayed by the fullback and both running backs.

Keith Smith managed to catch three balls on check-downs while Gage was kept in check for the entirety of the game.

Of all the red flags and concerns Atlanta has to address after their blowout loss near the top is receiver, Russell Gage.

Atlanta is not going to be able to keep themselves in any games without a second receiver that can get open and neither Kyle Pitts nor Gage gave the Falcons much reason for optimism.

Calvin Ridley as the Falcons’ only real receiving threat is a recipe for a lot of miserable offensive afternoons for Atlanta. Gage is a player Atlanta fans should be watching closely in week two. If he fails to show up yet again Atlanta undoubtedly has another major problem to add to a growing list.
