2. The New Orleans Saints take on the Carolina Panthers

The good news for Atlanta at least one of their division rivals will take their first loss this weekend on FOX in a 1:00 EST kick-off. The bad, one of these teams is going to start the season 2-0 and will remain tied with Tampa for the division lead.

Does anyone fully believe in Sam Darnold or Jameis Winston headed into week two? These are two teams who are very different and yet are both seemingly a quarterback away from being playoff contenders.

New Orleans has a veteran core left from the Drew Brees era that is still in contention mode. If Winston is who he was in week one their window to contend is going to remain open. The Panthers have a young well-coached core that is nearing the end of a solid rebuild.

If Sam Darnold is the answer to the position they are contenders. It is going to be fascinating watching these two teams’ matchup in week two and if you’re a glass-half-full Falcons fan (a rarity) you cannot lose in this matchup.

Carolina and New Orleans will be a shootout and the most entertaining of the early games and one with implications for Atlanta.
