Shocking inactive for the Atlanta Falcons against the Buccaneers

The Atlanta Falcons have released their list of five inactive players for their week one matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There is one player being held out with an injury and three that are among healthy scratches that come as a bit of a surprise for the team.

One inactive player especially sticks out as a shocking inactive for Atlanta.

The following Atlanta Falcons will not suit up against the Buccaneers:

• Feleipe Franks (QB)
• Wayne Gallman (RB)
• Darren Hall (CB)
• John Cominsky (DL)
• Frank Darby (WR)

Last week, rookie Frank Darby was among the healthy scratches – as was Wayne Gallman – but this week he was ruled out due to a calf injury that popped up during the week. This is a little disappointing as the Falcons wide receivers had an underwhelming week one and Darby has some exciting potential.

Wayne Gallman and Darren Hall are two that may not come as a surprise as they were on the inactive list last week.

With Gallman not dressing, it continues to point toward the increased role of Cordarrelle Patterson. It was one of the biggest surprises of week one as he has never really been a running back who was featured. He played excellent in week one, however.

This leaves the team with a total of two running backs – Mike Davis and Cordarrelle Patterson – on their active roster, but they also have Keith Smith who could take carries but would definitely not be an ideal runner.

The biggest surprise on this list is John Cominsky. A former draft pick by Thomas Dimitroff, Cominsky has been relatively disappointing during the past couple of years. He has been projected to be a big contributor but obviously, Dean Pees does not feel the need to have him in the game.

Cominsky provides good versatility, and the team needs any pass rush they can get, but he will not be a part of the plan against Tampa Bay.

Hopefully, the Falcons can stay healthy and will somehow come out of Florida with their first win of the year.
