Former Atlanta Falcon given high praise from HOF WR Isaac Bruce
The Atlanta Falcons have had a sad history, to say the least. They have endured decades of losing and some of the most soul-crushing losses in NFL history – but one thing they have managed to excel at is having all-time great wide receivers.
When you hear one of the greatest players of all time speak about a former Falcons receiver, you listen.
This is exactly what has happened in a recent interview with Hall of Fame wide receiver, Isaac Bruce.
Isaac Bruce gave a glowing report of a former Atlanta Falcons receiver.
Thanks to an interview with Betway Insider, Isaac Bruce mentioned how former Atlanta Falcon’s pass-catcher, Andre Rison, was the best route runner he has seen.
In fact, Bruce did not even hesitate when he mentioned Andre Rison as his choice for the route running component when building the best NFL receiver.
"I’ll go with another underrated guy: Andre Rison. Andre Rison was a great route runner. I think he was an underachiever, maybe he had a lot of off-the-field things to go alongside his career. But I really enjoyed watching him run routes."
Few would know more about great wide receivers than one of the greatest players to ever play the position in the history of the NFL. This is a huge compliment to an underrated player in Falcon’s history.
It is astonishing to hear him say that, as he could have chosen any other player he has watched or played with or against in his lifetime, yet he chose Andre “Bad Moon” Rison.
During the up and down career of Andre Rison, he played for seven different teams – Colts, Falcons, Browns, Jaguars, Packers, Chiefs, and Raiders in that order.
His longest stint with a single team came with the Atlanta Falcons from 1990 to 1994, when he racked up 5,633 yards and a whopping 56 touchdowns.
For a player to only play four years with a team but manage to reel in 56 touchdowns, is simply remarkable and Isaac Bruce alludes to the fact that his route running was what set him apart.
As Isaac Bruce also mentions, Andre Rison had some issues away from the football field that certainly did not help him on the field. He was an inconsistent player away from Atlanta and these issues could not have helped.
Going back to the quote, hearing Isaac Bruce mention Andre Rison as the best route-runner is something that seemingly came out of nowhere, but is certainly justified. Bruce would not have said these things if he did not mean them and it is great to hear a former Falcon getting the credit he deserves.
Rison should receive more attention for what he did during his time in the NFL, maybe Isaac Bruce bringing his name back into the spotlight will help.
