Atlanta Falcons: Chris Lindstrom is not getting enough credit
There have been two bright spots for the Atlanta Falcons offensive line – Chris Lindstrom and Jake Matthews.
We all have known how good Matthews has been, he has been to the Pro Bowl. While he may not get enough credit, at least people know his name, unlike Lindstrom.
Falcons guard, Chris Lindstrom, has been special during the first two weeks.
The Atlanta Falcons have not benefitted from good offensive line play as a whole, but that does not mean they do not have a rising star in the NFL.
Chris Lindstrom is dominating despite the fact that he has no help on either side of him.
To his right side, he has Kaleb McGary who has been anything but good in pass protection. He has been routinely beaten by pass rushers.
On his left side, he has Matt Hennessy who is still learning the position and how to play in the NFL. He has been downright bad, much like Kaleb McGary and Jalen Mayfield.
The three players not named Lindstrom and Matthews have been anything but reliable starters. This makes the play of Chris Lindstrom so much more impressive. He is basically carrying the right side of the line for the Falcons.
It is simply incredible that he is playing the way he is playing, but yet no one is giving him any credit due to the chaos going on both sides of him.
According to Pro Football Focus, during the first game against the Eagles, Lindstrom allowed two hurries and two pressures during the game. Against the Buccaneers, he allowed one hit, one hurry, and two pressures.
If you compare this to the other three struggling linemen – Jalen Mayfield, Matt Hennessy, and Kaleb McGary – who have a combined 17 pressures, 14 hurries, 6 hits, and 4 sacks allowed.
This young guard needs and deserves more credit for the play he is providing the Falcons. If he continues this performance he should be a Pro Bowler even though he will likely not get the votes because of the play of the line as a whole.
It has been an excellent start for Lindstrom, let’s hope it continues.
