Atlanta Falcons win ugly against the hapless New York Giants

Beating Daniel Jones is rarely an accomplishment that is unless you’re the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta pulled off a 17-14 win on a walk-off kick from Younghoe Koo. It was an ugly game from start to finish that saw Atlanta struggle offensively and take advantage of a stagnant New York offense.

If there was one positive takeaway from this game it was the Atlanta defense stepping up and getting stops when they had to. Even if it was the Giants, limiting a team to 14-points without their best corner was an impressive performance.

Add in a clutch catch from Kyle Pitts and Cordarrelle Patterson carrying the offense yet again. Patterson has been the offensive MVP through the first three weeks of the season and the only consistent player offensively.

The Atlanta Falcons have reason to be encouraged after a win against a bad Giants team

This game was a step in the right direction after two very ugly losses to start the season. Beating a desperate Giants team wasn’t going to be easy without Russell Gage or A.J. Terrell.

Olamide Zaccheaus finished with only 32-receiving yards but the stat line isn’t indicative of the impact he had on the game. Olamide and Patterson were the playmakers for this Atlanta offense in week three.

When the offense had to convert or needed a big play they were the players that stepped up for an offense that continued to look underwhelming in week three.  Whether it is playcalling or simply an inability for his receivers to get open until the final two drives Matt Ryan consistently threw the ball short checking it down to his closest receiver.

Something that certainly should improve in week four against a surprisingly bad Washington defense.

For now, however, Atlanta is content to finally win a game late. Opting to put together a clutch game-winning drive instead of giving one up.
