The Atlanta Falcons’ receivers struggled on Sunday despite the 17-14 win over the Giants. Outside of Calvin Ridley, there wasn’t a receiver who could separate or give Matt Ryan a consistent target. Olamide Zaccheaus did catch two monumental balls to put the Atlanta offense in the position to pull out the win.

However, he is a third option and shouldn’t be counted on in any situation as Atlanta’s second option. While there are a myriad of receiver options in free agency none are more intriguing than Josh Gordon.

Gordon has been reinstated and could be ready for any team by week four. He has had his struggles off the field and will try yet again to find a team and make an impact as we near the quarter pole of the season.

The Atlanta Falcons are the perfect landing spot for  Josh Gordon

Josh Gordon is instantly starting and playing a high volume of snaps for the Atlanta Falcons offense. No questions asked no wondering whether or not Gordon has anything left, he has more talent than any pass catcher on this roster outside of Calvin Ridley.

It speaks to the Falcons’ lack of receiver depth and their need for a playmaker to join the roster. Kyle Pitts is yet to make a consistent impact and Calvin Ridley has been the focal point of the opposing secondary’s focus.

Hayden Hurst has struggled early as well taking a step back from last year’s production. Hurst and Pitts were supposed to be primary weapons on the Atlanta offense. Until they can reappear Atlanta needs to add to their receiver depth.

Gordon is a bandaid on Atlanta’s offensive problems he isn’t going to fix all of their issues. However, he will make an impact and give Matt Ryan a target who has the ability to get open and take the top off the defense.

Gordon needs another shot, one Atlanta can give him and benefit from. Josh Gordon and the Falcons make too much sense for Atlanta to not at the very least explore.

Next. Atlanta should dread these five games. dark
