3. This offense badly needs Mike Davis to improve

Mike Davis has 137-rushing yards and zero scores three weeks into the season, simply put that isn’t going to cut it. Davis was Atlanta’s biggest off-season acquisition and was expected to stabilize the running game. So far his performance has been underwhelming.

Though it is only fair to note he is sharing carries with Patterson and has been given few chances with Atlanta often falling behind through the first three weeks. However, when he has gotten chances he has been unable to break through the initial tackler.

Davis needs to be the leading rusher on this team. Patterson is too valuable as a utility player to rely on him solely in the backfield. Atlanta needs him in the return and passing games as well as occasional carries.

If Davis continues to struggle Atlanta may have to entertain free agents that could help. Ideally, Davis will find the promise he showed with Carolina and produce this week against Washington. Atlanta doesn’t need 100-yard rushing games every week, rather a consistency. A player who the defense respects enough to pay attention to the run.  Davis needs to be that player for Atlanta in week four.
