Two Atlanta defensive linemen against Washington’s offensive line

The two Falcons on the defensive line that have come up clutch so far this year are Grady Jarrett and Dante Fowler Jr. They also happen to be the two players who should be counted on as one of them has been consistently dominant, while the other guy was awful last season.

Washington’s line has not been as bad as Atlanta’s but they have not exactly killed it to this point. They all are consistent when comparing each of them, but none of them have been stellar like Chris Lindstrom and Jake Matthews have been for Atlanta.

Both Grady and Dante made huge plays last Sunday to help lead the team to a win. Grady came up with a clutch red zone sack, while Fowler caused the Giants to punt it with a sack late in the game.

Much of the same will be needed from both of them this week.  They will be taking on a quarterback who can make plays for both his offense and the opposing defense.

The best way to ensure the latter? Creating pressure that forces mistakes. There is a lot to like about the Falcons defensive line going into this week.

Fowler should be able to get around the edge and create more fumbles, while Grady provides his usual dominant play up the middle.

This will hopefully keep Washinton’s playmakers from seeing the ball, as they have guys like Terry McLaurin and now Curtis Samuel who are extremely explosive.
