2. The magic surrounding Cordarrelle Patterson disappears for week five

Cordarrelle Patterson has been Atlanta’s best player four weeks into the season. He is the only player who has broken big plays or shown the ability to move the sticks consistently. When Matt Ryan has had success this season it is because Patterson is involved.

That trend is going to end this week in London. Bear with the reasoning for a moment if you will, Patterson will continue to be a dynamic weapon for Atlanta going forward. However, in week five it is a chain of events signaling Patterson’s worst week so far.  He is now the primary weapon for Atlanta and will be the focus of the Jets.

The Jets defense and coaching staff have both watched the tapes, and know without Calvin Ridley all their focus must shift to Patterson. For this week only it is going to have an effect and Patterson will be slowed as Sharpe and others step up to replace his production and carry the Atlanta offense.

Patterson is going to be at his best this season when Calvin Ridley and Kyle Pitts are both healthy and producing at the levels they are capable of. As the forgotten man he can dominate and make explosive plays. As the primary playmaker, he will find life isn’t as easy.
