2. This is the worst cast Matt Ryan has been asked to elevate

Sunday’s win over the Jets was impressive for a myriad of reasons despite the fact it was against New York.  The biggest reason is the fact that Matt Ryan won the game for Atlanta without a quality receiver on the roster.

Kyle Pitts and Cordarrelle Patterson are great playmakers and who Ryan leaned on when he needed a play.

Without Calvin Ridley or Russell Gage, Matt Ryan went into London and distributed to every player on his active roster getting the ball to Christian Blake and Tajae Sharpe. Even involving tight-end Lee Smith and finding a way to give Olamide Zaccheaus a pass even he couldn’t drop.

If Atlanta doesn’t make a move to acquire more depth and still manages to turn their season around it will be because Matt Ryan is putting up an MVP level season. Elevating players who would be hard-pressed to find playing time on any other roster.

It seems Ryan’s ability to elevate the talent around him has been lost due to the fact he has had either Roddy White or Julio Jones in his tenure with Atlanta. It is the first year he hasn’t had an elite receiver or depth at the position.  This is season Ryan can remind everyone just how great he is and how much he has done to elevate other players throughout his career.
