Atlanta Falcons: Cordarrelle Patterson is entertaining off the field, too.
Cordarrelle Patterson is the Atlanta Falcons’ most versatile player, number one weapon and maybe even the biggest cheerleader too. In the Falcons’ latest segment of Mic’d Up, they followed the man nicknamed Flash.
He provides a lot to cheer about while he is on the field, but he also delivers a lot of entertainment from the sideline. From taking pictures with the crowd, singing, and racking up over 100 all-purpose yards, Patterson had a day in London, England for an Atlanta Falcons win in week 5 against the New York Jets.
Patterson’s pregame routine has been winning him fans for years. He throws the ball into the stands and plays catch during warm-up. While he can launch the ball, not all fans can throw it back as far, which lead to a few “uh ohs” as Patterson tried to track the ball down.
"“It was awesome out there man,” said Patterson after the game. “I was out there earlier throwing the football with everybody. It’s probably the best crowd I ever had! Everybody was excited. When they are doing that it makes my job easier.”"

Patterson needed the energy the crowd provided as he went on to have his most productive game to date for Atlanta. He ran for 54 yards on 14 carries and added another 60 yards with seven catches as the Falcons went on to a 27-20 win over the Jets. A lot of those runs and catches are in the video. You can hear the impact of the hits and a lot of laughing he does during the game. You can also hear a conversation with Jets’ defensive lineman, John Franklin-Myers.
Patterson’s Leading On and Off Field
You don’t need to be on the field to see how much he has during the game. He was coming off of a three-touchdown performance against the Washington Football Team. He has five touchdowns already this season and he plays both sides of the ball on special teams. If that’s not enough to tire him out, he sings on the sideline, busting into the 1987 song Rock Steady by the Whispers.
The video shows how much of a leader Patterson has become in just his first season with the team. Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage did not make the trip, it was Patterson huddling up the receivers before the game and had them say “family” before going out to warm up. But he also talks a lot with friends on the other team and acquaintances on the sidelines. It’s clear how much he cares for people and how much they care for him.
Patterson only signed a one-year deal with the Falcons, they may want to extend it right now. Clearly, he is worth every dollar of the $3-million he is being paid for his on and off-field performance. At this pace will have teams lining up for his onfield services, the off-field is an added bonus.
