The never-ending trend of Falcons losing despite Matt Ryan’s incredible performances

The rare times that Matt Ryan puts on an incredible performance and his team actually wins feel special, which is a sad fact.

Matt Ryan is the sole argument that quarterbacks are not fully responsible for a win or a loss. Matt Ryan has had numerous games in his career where he puts up 300 or more yards, multiple touchdowns, completes more than 70% of his passes, does not turn the ball over, but somehow ends up on the losing side.

He has already had a game like that this year, look at week four against Washington. He threw for four touchdowns and no interceptions, but yet somehow still lost to Taylor Heinicke. It is simply insane.

Andrew Luck is the only quarterback in the history of the NFL to have similar bad luck to Matt Ryan in a career. The two of them will put everything out there and still lose due to bad coaching or bad defense.

Let’s compare Matt Ryan’s luck to Tom Brady’s for a second. Tom Brady is 3-1 in playoff games when he throws three interceptions, including the last NFC championship game against the Packers when he threw three straight interceptions in the second half, but still was lucky enough to win.

If Matt Ryan did that, there is no questioning that the Atlanta Falcons would lose and Ryan would get blamed by everyone in the media, even if the interceptions all came off of dropped passes.

This is not arguing that Ryan is better than Brady, it is just showing that Brady has received more help than Ryan has throughout his career.

This would get incredibly frustrating to do everything you need to win, but end up with a loss. It would drive most people insane, but to his credit, he just keeps going out there and doing his job.
