Atlanta Falcons: Reasons why Matt Ryan should demand a trade
Falcons new regime potentially not being fully committed to Matt Ryan
Let’s get this out of the way quickly, the Atlanta Falcons are not treating Matt Ryan bad in any way, they are doing a much better job than the Packers have been with Aaron Rodgers, however, that does not mean it would never cross Matt’s mind that this regime could not have full commitment to him as the future.
There is no getting around it, Matt Ryan is 36 years old. He is not in the early stages of his career by any means, but he is still playing extremely well and has shown he can lead a team.
With new regimes, come new ways to build a team. Head coach Arthur Smith came from the Titans where he had a semi-mobile quarterback in Ryan Tannehill, certainly, he is significantly more athletic than Ryan is—Tannehill used to play wide receiver in college which should say a lot.
If Arthur Smith feels like he needs a mobile passer to run his offense to its full potential, then that could mean the end of Matt Ryan sooner than later, which in turn could make Matt want to depart earlier than the Falcons were planning.
This is just a worst-case scenario, the chances that this happens are very slim, but it should be talked about.
All of this comes down to two things, what the Falcons head coach wants or needs for his team and what the best case is for the finances.
