Falcons corner, A.J. Terrell, is still not being talked about as one of the best in the league

When the Atlanta Falcons selected A.J. Terrell in the first round, fans who did not understand the game of football criticized the selection as all they saw or heard about was him being torched in the National Championship game against Jamar Chase—that was simply not the case.

For most of that game, A.J. had perfect coverage on Chase, but in football, even the most perfect coverage can still be beaten by a perfect throw and catch, and that is certainly what happened in that game.

Terrell has silenced his doubters already, at least the ones who pay attention to the game.

He has been elite in every way possible, whether that is man coverage or zone coverage, not to mention he also has the ability to hit stick the opposition.

Look at that stat, Terrell has yet to allow a touchdown in man coverage this year. He has been put on an island 261 times but has yet to allow any touchdowns.

Many have been and will continue talking about Trevon Diggs in Dallas, but A.J. Terrell is a better shutdown corner than Diggs is, no one will recognize that even though the statistics clearly show it to be the case. Fans just like the interception totals.

A.J. Terrell is another example of a player who should be headed to the Pro Bowl but will likely not make it due to the fact he is on a terrible defense which prevents him from receiving the type of name recognition he deserves.

It makes it that much more impressive that he can play the way he is playing while on a defense that cannot get to the passer or cover anyone outside of whichever player is being shut down by Terrell.

Hopefully, as the year rolls on, Terrell will be able to receive the type of attention he deserves.
