The Atlanta Falcons’ approach to the upcoming trade deadline will likely be determined by Sunday’s game. A win and Atlanta has a winning record and a shot at a wildcard, a loss, and the Falcons may decide to cut their losses and build towards next season.

If Atlanta beats the Panthers on Sunday there is one clear position they need to address in free agency or via trade. Adding a receiver isn’t expensive or difficult and a move Atlanta must make if they beat Carolina on Sunday.

Looking at potential trade partners no team makes more sense than the Houston Texans. The Texans have already started their sell-off moving Mark Ingram to Atlanta’s rival the New Orleans Saints.

The Atlanta Falcons need a veteran pass catcher capable of making a game-winning catch

Veteran Danny Amendola is having a down year struggling with Houston and hasn’t been able to stay on the field. Still, he is absolutely the perfect trade target for the Atlanta Falcons.  Amendola is better today than any receiver on the Atlanta roster not named Calvin Ridley.

Amendola has a history of making clutch catches in the biggest moments. The bigger the moment the bigger the impact he is going to have on your team, this was the case with the Patriots despite the fact he was never the best pass-catcher on that roster.

Matt Ryan needs a veteran target and Atlanta needs to acquire a receiver without spending anything significant. Amendola perfectly meets both of these conditions and would be a good third receiver and offer a mentor to the inexperienced receivers on the Atlanta roster.

Danny Amendola finished last season with 602-receiving yards in a great season with the terrible Detroit Lions.  This season has been a struggle because of injuries and who the Texans have lined up under center. Amendola is a solid role player who can still have a positive impact on a young team.

Atlanta should reach out to the Texans and gauge their price on a veteran that will give Matt Ryan a much need reliable veteran target.
