The Atlanta Falcons dropped to 3-4 on the season with an ugly loss to the Carolina Panthers. It was a game that answered any and all questions the front office should have as to the direction they should head before Tuesday’s trade deadline.

It is time to completely tear down and rebuild this Atlanta team. Sunday was another example of a team that had chance after chance to win against an inferior quarterback and they couldn’t get it done.

Matt Ryan made rookie mistakes forcing throws and almost coughing up the football for a second straight week. This game was a bright red warning light that this team isn’t a good team and isn’t capable of competing for a wild card spot.

The Atlanta Falcons lost ugly and showed their front office it is time to tear down this team and rebuild

Watching the Falcons is infuriating, they are neither a team of young players learning on the job or veterans competing hard. It is a team stuck in neutral, refusing to part ways with their veterans or to add complementary pieces.

Atlanta has known they are short at receiver and refused to add anyone. There are easily fifteen receivers on the market more capable than players Atlanta lined up on Sunday. Defensively Atlanta is committed to their veterans yet unwilling to add anyone around them.

It is time for Atlanta to stop sitting in neutral and make the tough decision to sell and rebuild. Rebuilding isn’t going to be pleasant but it will offer a bit of hope for their future. A future that is extremely murky over the past three seasons.

Are they attempting to compete? If so why do they refuse to make even the most basic of moves to improve? If they aren’t why not move off of veterans that can contribute to winning teams and offer future assets?

It is time to stop hoping Matt Ryan can elevate them back into contention. We have seen over the last three years he isn’t capable of elevating this roster.  A roster that must be blown up and rebuilt from the ground up.
