Atlanta Falcons top ten options in free agency to replace Calvin Ridley

9. Devin Funchess could find new life in the Atlanta offense
Devin Funchess had a productive career with the Panthers and Colts totaling 21-receiving touchdowns and 2,265-receiving yards in his five-year career. Two years removed from the game does the receiver have anything left?
This is a question Atlanta could find out by having the receiver in for a workout. As we have already covered Atlanta’s current options at the position are less than ideal and Funchess had good seasons in the Carolina offense.
He was with Cam Newton when Newton was at his best, however, Newton has never been an elite passer. His second stop came with the Colts who had little playing time for the receiver considering they had far superior options.
Much like with Riley perhaps a better quarterback and a jump in playing time would fix Devin’s production issues. Matt Ryan would be the best quarterback Funchess has had throw him a pass. Giving him a chance at a workout or signing him to the practice squad are both possibilities that give Atlanta a slight chance of finding a positional upgrade at the position.
While I don’t like the fit with Funchess as much as with Riley he ranks higher on this list based on his production with the Panthers and had a five-year career.
