Atlanta Falcons top ten options in free agency to replace Calvin Ridley
By Nick Halden
3. How is John Brown still a free agent with his proven track record?
This site and others have already covered Brown as a possibility due to the fact Atlanta worked the receiver out before he signed with the Broncos. Brown is now back on the market and should be an option for Atlanta.
He is only two years removed from putting together a season where he finished with 1,060-receiving yards and was a dynamic pass catcher. In the two years since Brown has struggled and hasn’t been the same player.
However, it was only two seasons ago he had the best year of his career and was a big play waiting to happen. With this potential Atlanta cannot afford to overlook Brown. The only reason this isn’t a great move is the fact Brown is undersized.
Atlanta could use bigger targets considering their receivers are undersized and Kyle Pitts is their one jump ball receiver. Still, Brown is an upgrade and a player Atlanta is familiar with after having him for a workout already. Brown doesn’t check every box but at this point in the season he is one of Atlanta’s three best options for the rest of the season.
