3. With Odell the Atlanta Falcons are going to have a punchers chance if they make the playoffs

The Atlanta Falcons currently would take on the Green Bay Packers in the wildcard round of the playoffs. We are a long way from the season being over and the Falcons have two very tough games coming up against the Cowboys and Patriots.

Keeping their wildcard spot is going to be tough and will only happen if Atlanta manages to pull upsets as they did against the Saints. If they manage to make it into the playoffs Odell gives them a chance to knock off a team like the Packers that would be incredibly favored.

Right now the Falcons offense is pretty simple for opposing defenders put your best cover man on Kyle Pitts and send help while letting everyone else take their chances in man coverage. Atlanta doesn’t have a big-play receiver that defenses are going to be afraid of come playoff time.

If Odell were to join this roster it changes the dynamic completely. All of a sudden you need to keep track of Odell, Pitts, and Patterson in an offense that can feature all three players. This lets Tajae Sharpe, Russell Gage, and Hayden Hurst fade back into the roles they fit best. As depth pieces who are on the opposing team’s third and fourth cover options.

Atlanta with Odell is a team you have to respect, without him they will be lucky to hold on to their wildcard spot and would have no chance of pulling a first-round upset. Odell changes the Atlanta offense and the outlook of their season something the front office must take into consideration when making their decision on Tuesday.
