Three New England Patriots the Atlanta Falcons Must Slow Down
Slow down the hype surrounding Patriots quarterback Mac Jones
Undoubtedly, the Patriots signal-caller is one that Falcons defensive coordinator Dean Pees must attempt to slow down. At this point, he is fourth in the NFL in completion percentage at 69%, along with 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions. By far he has been the most consistent and impressive among the rookie quarterback class.
Moreover, he has thrown for 2,333 yards, which puts him in the Top 15 in that category. Comparatively, this Atlanta Falcons defense is 17th in passing yards allowed a game at 246.2 yards. While at the Mercedes-Benz dome, they allow 226.7 passing yards (11th in the league at home). A marginal improvement for a defense that is coming off of its worst game of the season so far.
Pees has to find a way to get pressure on Jones in the backfield. Jones has been sacked just six times over the last four weeks. The Atlanta defense is last in the league with just 11 sacks this season. Additionally, this Falcons unit is last in QB pressures at 17.9 %. This would an ideal game for players like DT Grady Jarrett and DE Marlon Davidson to show up. Dante Fowler is back in the lineup as well and could offer Atlanta help at improving their struggling pass rush.
