3 Things the Atlanta Falcons must do to beat Tampa
By Nick Halden
2. Get creative and put the ball in the hands of Kyle Pitts and Cordarrelle Patterson regardless of what the defense does
We already know what the Tampa Bay defense is going to try to do against Atlanta on Sunday. We watched the Patriots and Cowboys bracket Kyle Pitts and dare someone else to try and make a play. Ryan has forced the ball Pitts way multiple times this season with mixed results.
Sunday this can’t happen against a defense searching for turnovers, Ryan can feed Pitts the ball in other creative ways. Runnings screens, slants, and having Pitts in the backfield would give Ryan risk-free chances to put the ball in the rookie’s hands.
For Atlanta to win this game Kyle Pitts and Cordarrelle Patterson both are going to have to impact the offense. Patterson isn’t a concern here he will get the football in a variety of ways because of the number of positions Atlanta will put him in.
Preparing for Patterson when you have no idea where Atlanta is going to use him is next to impossible. Arthur Smith needs to use some of this same creativity to get Pitts the football. Another quiet week from the rookie is trouble for an Atlanta offense that needs him to make plays in an offense that doesn’t have a consistent receiver.
