Round 1, Pick 8: Derek Stingley Jr. (CB) – LSU

If you have watched college football in any capacity during the previous few years then you likely have heard of Derek Stingley from LSU, if the Atlanta Falcons were to end up with him, it would create a scary duo of corners for Dean Pees to work with.

Ever since his freshman year, he has had eyes plastered on him and he has delivered. From his first game, he has never failed to disappoint.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, he has the length to be a shutdown corner in the NFL, much like has been the case for him in college.

To pair him with A.J. Terrell, who has been excellent this season, would be a perfect situation for both of them and the team. Stingley would not have to come into the league as a shutdown corner from day one—just look at what that has done to Jeff Okudah with the Detroit Lions.

The Falcons need to have a corner opposite of Terrell, Fabian Moreau has been decent but should not be counted on in the capacity that he has been. This pick would significantly improve the defense and give them two young and talented cover corners to rely on.
