The Atlanta Falcons have joined the unfortunate headlines coming out of the NFL this week. Three Atlanta Falcons have tested positive for COVID in a league-wide surge of cases that have taken big stars out of Sunday’s contests.

Sunday’s games are all obviously secondary to the health and well-being of those who have tested positive. For Atlanta, Cornell Armstrong, Quinton Armstrong, and Emmanuel Ellerbee all tested positive.

All three players are reserves for an Atlanta Falcons team getting ready to play their biggest game of the season. As huge underdogs, the Falcons are getting ready to take on San Francisco if they win they will have an inside track to the final wild-card.

All games are still on track to be played at this point, though for some teams playing a competitive game this Sunday could become a concern if COVID cases continue to uptick.  Something to keep a close eye on over the next few days.

Baker Mayfield, Jalen Ramsey, Chris Jones, and Odell Beckham Jr. are the headline names among the surge of positive tests in the league.

A stark reminder that even the biggest stars and best athletes in our sport aren’t immune to the pandemic we are still dealing with.

Though some normalcy has returned to stadiums we are still in the middle of a pandemic and the NFL season seems to be feeling that effect more so than any point so far this season.  Atlanta has remained in person and been able to practice which is good for a young team that is going to need every possible advantage ahead of a big matchup with San Francisco.  Atlanta will go on the road to take on the 49ers with kick-off scheduled for 4:05 EST.

If Atlanta were to upset San Francisco it would put them in the wildcard ahead of their game with the Detriot Lions. If Atlanta puts those two wins back-to-back the impossible may just happen and the Falcons will land in the playoffs.
