As the game between the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers was nearing halftime, the Falcons decided to get aggressive. Matt Ryan threw a dangerous pass to Kyle Pitts near the sideline.

The ball looked like it was going to be intercepted but Kyle Pitts did his best Julio Jones impersonation by trying to force the ball incomplete, but somehow he ended up with the ball but it was ruled incomplete on the field and after further review.

An argument could be made that the call should have gone in favor of the Falcons

At first glance when watching the replay, it seems obvious that neither the 49ers nor the Falcons should have possession, but when you get into the rules there is a strong case that can be made that the catch should have gone to Kyle Pitts.

If Pitts would have dragged his right foot at the end, this no doubt would have been a catch, no argument there, however, it looks as if he had the ball before that sequence.

In fact, it looks like both the defender and the Falcons rising superstar both had possession, and as many people know, joint possession always goes to the receiver.

Clearly, Pitts got both feet down before the part of the play that everyone focused on initially, therefore one could say that the replay booth did not look at this play hard enough and should have given Kyle the catch based on the joint possession rule.

Kyle Pitts really had the ball from the moment he went after it. He had what looked like a strong grip on the ball throughout the time he was trying to take it away.

No one can get too mad about this as this one play did not affect the outcome of the game, but it still shows that sometimes replay does not fully examine every play.
