The Atlanta Falcons didn’t need to say anything on Monday. The team was coming off a lackluster and just plain ugly-looking 31-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. As a result, the franchise is all but mathematically eliminated from the playoffs; pending a miracle, the Falcons will miss the post-season for the fourth straight season.

There wasn’t much to be said and not much to be done. That didn’t stop the social media team from creating a bizarrely photoshopped Spider-Man No Way Home movie poster on the team’s Twitter account. It immediately became the target for fans who are still bitter about the latest performance.

Spiderman, No Way Home is coming off a record-setting opening weekend. So anything that can be posted using the hashtag Spiderman may generate some clicks. Unfortunately, the poster doesn’t do anything for the Falcons but allows more mocking by haters and an already disgruntled fan base. Clearly, the social media team wasn’t reading the room.

Matt Ryan’s maybe a lot of things, but Spiderman-like is not one of them. Cordarrelle Patterson is popped in there and for some strange reason takes the place of MJ. Arthur Smith takes the part of Dr. Strange, which could be the closest match given the number of strange calls the rookie head coach has made this season.

Atlanta Falcons, No Wins At Home

Countless followers on Twitter asked, pleading, and told the team to remove the post. Another suggests a new title:  It’s gonna be called Atlanta Falcons No Wins at Home. But that was just the beginning. Another post says, Please, leave Marvel out of this, while another says, Nope. Marvel packs theaters with a good product. You’re running us away with yours. It just kept going as a follower posted: Agreed, just like Spiderman, when people watch the Atlanta Falcons, they also cry. While another said, Umm, this is embarrassing… are you NOT aware of our record?!?!

To be fair, the post had more hearts on Twitter than negative comments. But why the team opened itself up to be mocked when it’s already a league doormat, will remain a mystery – or should I say, Mysterio.
