3 Things the Atlanta Falcons learned in their win over Detroit

The Atlanta Falcons survived the Detroit Lions 20-16 thanks to a late interception in two key defensive stands. Matt Ryan and the offense did just enough to give Atlanta their first home win of the season.
While Atlanta won a “home game” earlier in the season it was played in London and Atlanta’s lone win with “home field” advantage. The win keeps the Falcons mathematically in the wildcard race ahead of the game with the Buffalo Bills next week.
The Lions fell to 2-12-1 in what has been a better season than their record might suggest. It doesn’t seem to matter who they have available this team plays hard from their coach and gives their opponent everything they can handle.

Beating Tim Boyle and the Detroit Lions isn’t terribly impressive, however, as mentioned before this is a Lions team that plays hard. They upset two teams that are far superior to Atlanta in the Vikings and Cardinals.
It is a win that last year’s Falcons fail to capture and more proof that this team is building in the right direction even if it isn’t going as quickly as its fan base may hope.
There is plenty to break down after this week’s win but here are the three most obvious stories coming out of Sunday’s victory.
