This season hasn’t gone according to plan for the Atlanta Falcons or their quarterback Matt Ryan. Ryan’s season has been a down year for a quarterback who has historically put up great numbers even on bad teams.

What the stats don’t tell you is the lack of time Ryan has to throw in the pocket this season. Ryan has absorbed hit after hit this season and somehow hasn’t missed time continuing to start every game despite being in year fourteen.

Not only have the Falcons failed to provide Ryan protection they have asked the quarterback to put together a season without any help around him. Cordarrelle Patterson has been a pleasant surprise and Kyle Pitts is a young player to build around, however, Ryan hasn’t had one receiver he can count on this season.

Matt Ryan has won seven games with the Atlanta Falcons despite facing the highest degree of difficulty he has faced in his career

Tajae Sharpe, Christian Blake, and Russell Gage have been Ryan’s weapons to work with this season. An undertalented and undersized group that combined explain Ryan’s step back in production without factoring in the beating the offensive line has required Ryan to take.

Despite all of this Ryan has closed in on multiple notable records this season as he continues to climb the all-time leaderboards. Three, in particular, stand out for a quarterback who will continue to set records over the next two seasons.
