5. Calvin Ridley sits as the fifth-highest Atlanta Falcons cap hit at $11.1-million and is the biggest question mark of the top five

Ridley comes in as the fifth biggest hit in 2022 and is without a doubt the main story for Atlanta headed into the off-season. Speculating on Ridley is very tough when you consider the reasons he stepped away from football.

Ridley took time away from the team to tend to his mental health and hasn’t updated the team or media on this season or his future with the team. There is a chance that Ridley and the Falcons part ways in the off-season if the team and Ridley deem it is in what is in his best interest.

That is the most important thing in this situation taking care of Calvin Ridley the person, not the football player. Football is obviously secondary here but it does play an important role in how Atlanta approaches the off-season.

Whether it is retirement or trade it is a real possibility it seems that Ridley is not a part of Atlanta’s active cap next season.  If he were to be able to return to the team it would be a huge boost and his cap number is more than reasonable for a player with Ridley’s talent.

Regardless of how it plays out Ridley’s status with the team is obviously the biggest story of the off-season.
