3. Punter Sterling Hofrichter is unlikely to be back in an Atlanta Falcons uniform but will be paid $48,780 in 2022

Atlanta has had three different punters in 2021 and each has gone through its own set of struggles. Hofrichter certainly isn’t going to be the answer at the position next season for a team that is likely going to settle on a veteran.

Thomas Morstead will be an interesting off-season option. Despite the veteran’s age he has been Atlanta’s best punter this season and could likely be signed to a discount deal. Moving on from Hofrichter and former Georgia punter Cameron Nizialek looks to be the right move for a team that should bring back their veteran punter.

If Atlanta opts not to bring back Morstead Bryan Anger is another inexpensive veteran option that wouldn’t be too large of a commitment.

Wasting a draft pick on a punter at this point in Atlanta’s rebuild would be a mistake leaving a veteran-free agent or an undrafted rookie as the primary option. Anger or Morstead are Atlanta’s best options and allow them to address the position quickly and focus on more important positions.
