1. Moving off of Julio Jones may not have been the Atlanta Falcons choice but it was the right move for a receiver still owed $15.5-million in 2022

The Atlanta Falcons still will owe their former star receiver a massive $15.5 million dollar cap hit in 2022. Jones will be a member of the Titans and will be the last massive domino to fall off of Atlanta’s dead cap issues.

While this could change with off-season moves, for now, Jones is Atlanta’s only notable dead cap hit. Despite the fact, he will be paid a massive salary moving on from Jones was the right move for Atlanta.

He cannot stay healthy and it appears his best seasons are behind him. Moving on from Jones will allow Atlanta to draft the position and find their future at receiver. Julio is one of the best receivers to ever enter the league and will have spent his prime years as a member of the Falcons.

While the way it ended for Jones and Atlanta wasn’t ideal it will ultimately work in Atlanta’s favor via draft picks and moving off of Julio at the right time. As a member of the Titans Julio hasn’t been able to stay on the field and even when he is healthy isn’t the same receiver.

This doesn’t make his dead cap hurt the Falcons any less but it does point to a brighter future and a move made at the right time for a front office that is rebuilding.
