Five options the Atlanta Falcons have to replace Matt Ryan

If Matt Ryan doesn’t ask for or demand a trade he is the Atlanta Falcons quarterback next season. Despite rumors circulating around Ryan and the Steelers moving off of the veteran makes little sense for Atlanta before 2023.

The dead cap hit for moving Ryan would be massive and there are no clear answers at the position coming out of the draft. Sitting in the middle of the draft order Atlanta has a myriad of positions to address and won’t have a shot at this year’s top quarterback recruits.

Moving on from Ryan doesn’t make sense for Atlanta and works in the wrong direction. It isn’t going to happen despite the rumors and the fact Ryan hasn’t been supported adequately in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Falcons won’t move off of Matt Ryan unless he decides he has had enough of Atlanta

Ryan and Atlanta aren’t parting ways this off-season unless it becomes untenable. Having watched Ryan for over a decade it seems highly unlikely this would ever happen. However, for the sake of argument let’s take a look at Atlanta’s top five options to replace Ryan if the quarterback does decide to chase a ring.
